About

Welcome to the Multidisciplinary and Interdisciplinary Studies Programs at West Virginia University. I hope you consider joining our program. Over the past six years, we have seen MDS double its enrollment. Each year, approximately 300 students adopt our flexible curriculum. Upon graduation, our students attend professional and graduate school, pursue employment with government or corporate America and start their own businesses. I am proud of the success our graduates have enjoyed, and I look forward to ensuring our students continue to flourish as they transition to life as WVU alumni.

The MDS faculty share a strong commitment to interdisciplinary studies and scholarship. Our faculty hold advanced degrees in English, political science, history and education—disciplines that complement their expertise in interdisciplinary theory. In addition to their academic pursuits, the MDS faculty take pride in providing consistent and accurate academic advising. As you will discover, we work hard to build personal relationships with our students—we want to help you achieve your academic goals. If you are searching for a flexible and student-centered path to academic success, I enthusiastically invite you to explore this site for more information on our program.

We look forward to meeting you.
