I have been fortunate in my career that I have been able to teach a range of students from 6th grade through 12th grade, as well as university students. My experiences working in schools in rural West Virginia provided me with a deep understanding of the needs of various students and my time as an advisor in the Center for Women’s studies taught me the intricacies of higher education academic planning. My experiences have given me a broad understanding of the best practices in education and my research has allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of curriculum, assessment, academic planning, and advising. In addition, my understanding of the post-secondary educational system has provided me with a profound appreciation for both the educational proficiencies and needs of all students.
